The bomb is ticking. With nervous, shaking hands, you begin to cut through the red cable. But what if the blue cable was the right one? Did you pass on all of the important instructions to your colleagues that are holding the bomb diffusal handbook in their hands? Did you arrange the clues in the correct order for your colleagues and given them the correct instructions? With one jolt, you cut through the cable, and... the countdown disappears, with relief, it becomes clear that it was the correct cable!

Communication is key – The story

If there isn’t clear communication, chaos often arises: a colleague misunderstands a message, another colleague misinterprets a task, colleagues begin to dispute amongst each other who should take on the task. There are many examples of misunderstandings.

In »Talk to Survive«, teams train their problem, solution and communication capabilities. Quick, clear and effective communication is the key to success!

Your team diffuses a ticking bomb. This is of course not in reality, but digital. Your team is split up into two groups. One person from your team wears VR goggles at a time and sees the bomb in front of them and has to describe it to the other part of the team. The colleagues have the bomb diffusal handbook in their hands and have to find out based on the description, which buttons need to be pressed and which cables need to be cut through.

How »Talk to Survive VR« trains the most important method of team development: clear communication

Objective

In the exciting activity, the small teams are trained in a communicative and playful way. The complexity increases with each round. The aim is to put the communiation into focus.

Learning effects

The participants recognise the use of clear and unambiguous communication. An effective form of communication is achieved and the collaboration in the team is strengthened.

Measurability

Through reaching the level of increased difficulty of diffusing the bomb, conclusions can be made about the qualitiy of the factual communication. The teams receive a ranking of all of the teams that have taken part until now and can rank themselves qualitively.
